A deep hole drilling machine is a tool used to drill deep holes in metal parts. It is used in various industries such as hydraulics, automotive, medical, mould manufacturing, animal feed, firearms, gas and energy, and aerospace industry.
The machine is designed to drill holes with a depth-to-diameter ratio of 100:1 or more. The drilling process is done by rotating the drill bit and feeding it into the workpiece at a slow and steady rate. The coolant is used to lubricate the drill bit and remove the chips from the hole.
Solutions Include:
The partnership between HTT and Micron Ensures:
The counterboring and/or roller burnishing process enlarges existing holes and improves the surface finish in tubular workpieces that have been pre-drilled or cast. This process can be configured to pilot off a finished bore for straightness, or off the pre-bore for maximum concentricity. Counter boring is an effective process for a wide range of diameters, up to 630 mm

The PG Series Precision Bore Gaging System is a unique mechanical gaging system developed by Sunnen that makes I.D. gaging simple, reliable and economical. The PG series design is rugged and reliable, having been proven over decades of use on shop floors around the world. The PG precision gage is a productive complement to Sunnen or other honing machines where they are used to measure bores as part of the honing operation.
Teaming a PG gage with a Sunnen PG Series Setting Fixture creates a complete gaging system that eliminates buying and maintaining expensive master rings, plug gages and air gage probes. Both the gage and setting fixture are built for everyday use making them ideal for “in-process” inspection during production or in a QC setting.
Features & Benefits:
• PG gages and setting fixtures are available to cover diameters from 2.29 mm to 109.47 mm with 0.001 mm increments.
• Instant setup for any size bore
• No master rings or plug gages to buy
• No power source needed – completely portable
• Stays set and repeats within .000010” (0.00025 mm)
• Rugged, reliable tool for the shop floor or QC department
• Designed to work as a system with Sunnen PG Series Setting Fixtures
• Easy to set and easy to use
The quality of the cylinder bore is critical for optimising the service life of hydraulic cylinders – roundness, straightness, and the correct surface finish are arguably more important than any other quality metric. To maximise the life of hydraulic seals, the cylinder bore must be honed so that it is round and parallel (to ensure that the compression and sealing characteristics are correct and consistent along the full stroke length).
Further to this, the seal must run on a surface that is free of any large peaks that will cause excessive wear. A sealing surface must also be well lubricated to reduce heat build-up.
Micron Surface Roughness Testers are a low cost, portable solution that is ideal for measuring the surface finish inside a honed cylinder bore to ensure maximum cylinder service life and fewer warranty claims.
Dial bore gages are specialized tools used to measure the inside diameter of a machined hole, typically used during the manufacturing process or when resizing a bore such as in engine building or hydraulic repair.
Dial bore gages are particularly handy when measuring bores in large work-pieces when it is easier to measure the work-piece in place than to take the work-piece to a gaging station.
Sunnen Dial Bore Gages are fast, easy and accurate, and come in a wide range of models with different lengths, read outs, diameter ranges and with or without retractable probes. They all feature all-carbide gaging points, wear-proof ball crank, and adjustable centralizers. Each gage comes packed in its own sturdy box with all tools and wrenches required for setup and adjustment.
Sunnen Dial Bore Gages can be used in tandem with Sunnen Setting Fixtures for a complete system which eliminates the need for ring gages, micrometers or jo blocks.

The Single Stroke® Honing process, also referred to as a single pass machine process is a fast, accurate and cost-effective method of sizing certain bores to final size. The Sunnen Single Stroke® Honing Tool used is an expandable, superabrasive sleeve mounted on a tapered arbor. The sleeve is expanded only during setup, and no adjustments are necessary during the honing operation. The rotating Single Stroke Honing Tool is pushed through the bore only once, with the workpiece being removed after the return stroke.
The VSS-2 Single Stroke Honing® System is designed for low maintenance with “lubed for life” linear slides. A standard 7.5 kW (10 Hp) spindle motor, a rock solid cast iron spindle carriage, a thermal-resistant composite base, and a thick steel tooling plate combine to make the VSS-2 the most productive and durable machine in its class.
The machine is easy to set up and operate, even by less skilled operators. All setups are accomplished through the control panel at the front of the machine. There is no need to remove covers or doors to set vertical carriage positions as in some other machines.

The VSS-2 can handle diameters from 3.9 to 50 mm (0.154 to 2.0 inch) contingent on the application. To ensure precise bore size, geometry and surface finish, the system uses Sunnen plated diamond Single Stroke Honing® Tools. The tools go through the bore only once, removing a predetermined amount of stock, progressively enlarging the bore. After the final pass, the bore is to size, straight and round, with the desired surface texture.

If you want to make more money faster in a ready-made market and increase parts sales, get with the LBB-1660.
– Main Bearing Bore Diameter Range: 46 – 178 mm (1.800 – 7.000 in) Special tooling required for 127 – 178 mm (5.000 to 7.000 in)
– Capacity: V blocks, both 90 and 60; overhead and L-head in-line blocks; up to 1140 mm (45 in) long, 710 mm (28 in) from head deck to main bearing centerline.
– Minimum stock removal, usually less than .003″ (.076 mm) off the caps compared to as much as .010″ (.254 mm) with boring
– Maximum precision, corrects distortion caused by warpage and cap stretch
– Meets or exceeds original factory accuracy for alignment, roundness and size
– Fast, easy setup
– Ease of operation, no special training required
– Profitable: Make $90-$120 in 30 minutes on a typical V-8 block
– Lifetime application service with every machine purchase
Shops all over the country enjoy all the advantages of the CH-100, but the best, most practical reasons are speed and ease of use. Add quality work, and that about sums it up.
– Diameter Range (I.D.) 3 – 60 mm (.118-2.36 in)
– Maximum bore length up to 250 mm (9.84 in)
– Zero Shutoff – Power stroking system can be set up to hone to size and automatically stop
– Power Stroking Standard – Both selectable manual and automatic power stroking is standard
– Solid Construction Throughout – Reinforced structural steel and cast iron provides a solid machining platform
– Moving components are isolated from the base to eliminate vibration
– Rigid stroker carriage and robust linkage-driven design permit more rapid stroking, which shortens cycle times
– Foot Pedal – For ease-of-use and safety, the foot pedal starts and stops the machine
Sunnen Power Stroking assures constant stroke length and stroke rates. Combined with a zero shutoff means better control of bore size, finish and geometry than ever before – at high-production rates.
With the fast stock removal rates of the Sunnen SSH-1680, you can eliminate preliminary reaming, boring or grinding on many jobs and it allows you to rough and finish in one operation.
The SSH-1680 is extremely versatile. It handles workpieces of almost any size or configuration and cuts all kinds of materials fast and clean.
